Baseball Recap: Menahga Braves vs. Pillager Huskies

Menahga extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-7 in the process. They fell 6-2 to the Pillager Huskies. The Braves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Pillager, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victory was nothing new for Pillager as they're now sitting on three straight.

For Pillager's part, Brooks Birchaek was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those doubles were Birchaek's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Hoglin, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.

Looking ahead, Menahga will venture away from home to face off against Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pillager, they will take on Parkers Prairie at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
