Basketball Game Preview: Huron River Rats vs. Adrian Maples

The Huron River Rats will head out to square off against the Adrian Maples at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-29, which was the final score in Huron's tilt against Saline on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the River Rats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Hornets are ranked 54th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Adrian). They blew past Ypsilanti 60-22 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Maples have posted since January 8, 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Adrian and bumps their season record up to 8-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.0 points over those games. As for Huron, their loss was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Huron took a serious blow against Adrian when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 54-17. Can Huron avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
