Baseball Game Preview: Newman Fighting Cardinals vs. Stratford Tigers

Newman is 0-9 against Stratford since May of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Fighting Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 4:45 p.m.

Newman is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They came up short against Athens on Tuesday, falling 15-2.

Newman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Rice, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Stratford posted their closest victory since April 30, 2024 on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Athens, sneaking past 3-1. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bluejays recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Jack Tubbs, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Riley Spindler was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
