Softball Game Preview: Murray Spartans vs. Park City Miners

Murray has gone a perfect 7-0 against Park City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Spartans will square off against the Miners at 3:30 p.m. Murray knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Park City likes a good challenge.

Last Wednesday, Murray made easy work of Park City and carried off a 19-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won seven in a row.

Murray got a massive performance out of Savana Whitlock, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Whitlock a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Suzie Christensen, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Murray was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .625. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Park City has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Murray, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Murray hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .489. However, it's not like Park City struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
