Basketball Recap: Josiah Thomas Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

There's no place like home for Morehead, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Bassett Bengals with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 62-48. That's more bragging rights for the Panthers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Morehead to victory, but perhaps none more so than Josiah Thomas, who went 8 for 13 en route to 16 points in addition to three steals and three blocks. Those three steals gave Thomas a new career-high. Avery Bigelow was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

When it comes to explaining why Bassett lost, don't look at Isaiah Perkins. Despite the final result, he posted 28 points. Another player making a difference was David Cook, who had ten points.

Morehead is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Bassett, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
