Basketball Game Preview: Statesville Greyhounds vs. East Lincoln Mustangs

The Statesville Greyhounds will head out on the road to challenge the East Lincoln Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Statesville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.3 points per game this season.

Statesville is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering North Lincoln just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to the Knights at home by a 68-49 margin.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Manuel (MJ) Gladden, who posted 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Bryant, who put up ten points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Statesville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

East Lincoln has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 73-68 heartbreaker at the hands of Hickory.

East Lincoln's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Statesville, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.

Statesville suffered a grim 99-74 defeat to East Lincoln in their previous meeting on January 3rd. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Statesville was down 56-28.
