Softball Game Preview: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Port Angeles Roughriders

Roosevelt will square off against Port Angeles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Roosevelt's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.

Roosevelt not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 3, 2024. They blew past West Seattle 21-1. The win continues a trend for the Roughriders in their matchups with West Seattle: they've now won seven in a row.

Gretchen Harder made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Samantha Wright was a standout: she fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. Those home runs were her first of the season. Elliot Walker was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Seattle only posted a batting average of .105.

Meanwhile, Port Angeles wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

The victory got Roosevelt back to even at 2-2. As for Port Angeles, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
