Basketball Recap: Our Lady of Good Counsel Falls Short Against Ranked St. John's

Our Lady of Good Counsel is ranked highly in their home state and on Tuesday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of St. John. The Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons fell 57-49 to the St. John's Cadets. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-47 two weeks ago.

It was another big night for Morgan Stewart, who almost dropped a double-double on 30 points and nine rebounds for St. John's. Stewart's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lyla Coogen, who posted nine points.

Our Lady of Good Counsel has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for St. John's, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Our Lady of Good Counsel and St. John's will both be playing The Academy of the Holy Cross the next time they take the court. St. John's will head out to face The Academy of the Holy Cross at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Our Lady of Good Counsel will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
