Softball Game Preview: Pioneer Valley Panthers vs. Fowler Redcats

The Pioneer Valley Panthers will head out to challenge the Fowler Redcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pioneer Valley comes in on four and Fowler on 16.

Pioneer Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Chowchilla.

Ciena Acosta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pioneer Valley's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kianna Real, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Real is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another was Natalia Rocha, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fowler got themselves on the board against El Diamante on Friday, but El Diamante never followed suit. They blew past the Miners 16-0. The Redcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Fowler's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Pioneer Valley, their win bumped their record up to 18-11.
