Baseball Game Preview: Xavier Falcons vs. Newington Nor easters

The Xavier Falcons will challenge the Newington Nor easters at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Xavier is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Edwin O. Smith.

Meanwhile, Newington never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Torrington as they made off with a 13-0 win. The Nor easters' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Xavier is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Newington, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Xavier beat Newington 16-12 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
