League recap: carlisle overpowering for Hatley in past week

2A Region 1 league recap: 3/20/13

Hatley's Josh Carlisle was the best pitcher in 2A Region 1 this week. Over the past week, he had two wins and 16 Ks.

New Site outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its six total wins led the league. The Royals beat Cherokee 20-5, Middleton 17-1 and the Indians 12-2.

The Tigers' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 19 hits and nine walks, both of which led the league.

East Union's Trey Barkley destroyed 2A Region 1 pitching this week while leading the league in average, hits and runs batted in. Barkley hit .538 during the week and amassed six RBIs thanks to seven hits.

Carlisle was the top pitcher this week as he paced the league with two wins and 16 Ks.



Hatley's Russ Johnson threw seven shutout innings in a 3-0 win over Potts Camp on Thursday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out ten, while giving up two hits.

Austin Sanders struck out 14 in the Urchins' 10-0 win over Okolona on March 19. Over his five innings pitched he allowed zero runs on zero hits.
