Basketball Game Preview: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Anna Coyotes

The Lovejoy Leopards will square off against the Anna Coyotes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lovejoy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Lovejoy humbled Sherman with an 81-47 victory. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Bearcats are ranked 461st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Anna lost 69-46 to Denison on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Coyotes have suffered against the Yellow Jackets since November 19, 2018.

Despite the defeat, Anna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noah Foster dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Foster. Lamin Foon was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Anna smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Lovejoy pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.4 points per game. As for Anna, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.
