Basketball Recap: Richland Northeast's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Richland Northeast came into Monday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 45-33 victory over the Airport Eagles on Monday. That's more bragging rights for the Cavaliers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Richland Northeast can attribute much of their success to Ethan Ard, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave Ard a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyrin Sellers, who had seven points.

Richland Northeast's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Airport, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Richland Northeast has already played their next contest, a 59-52 victory against Columbia on the 9th. As for Airport, they will face off against Mid-Carolina at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' defense better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 53.6 points per game this season.
