Baseball Game Preview: Covington-Douglas Wildcats vs. Pond Creek-Hunter Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Covington-Douglas Wildcats take on Pond Creek-Hunter Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Covington-Douglas's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Pond Creek-Hunter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, everything went Covington-Douglas' way against Dover as Covington-Douglas made off with a 12-3 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Pond Creek-Hunter hadn't done well against Waukomis recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Thursday. Pond Creek-Hunter sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Waukomis.

The victory got Pond Creek-Hunter back to even at 2-2. As for Covington-Douglas, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.

Covington-Douglas took their victory against Pond Creek-Hunter when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-3. Will Covington-Douglas repeat their success, or does Pond Creek-Hunter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
