Volleyball Recap: Ellis Railroaders vs. Trego Golden Eagles
Ellis had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 4-6 to make it six. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trego Golden Eagles. The Railroaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Golden Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Leah Reed paced Ellis' offense, picking up 13 kills. Reed got some help from Taylor Kohl and her 26 assists. Haylee Comer controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
As for Trego, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-23), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Trego found their leader in freshman Delana Brown, who had nine digs and one assist. Bailey Ziegler also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Ellis has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Thomas More Prep-Marian on the 23rd. As for Trego, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Northern Valley on the 20th.
