Softball Recap: Thomas Sumter Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Thomas Sumter Academy came into Thursday's game having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the King's Academy Lions a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. That looming 15-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Generals yet this season.

Kason Carter made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

In other batting news, Lila Kate Stines was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Anna Luzzi was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Thomas Sumter Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .743. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Thomas Sumter Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for King's Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Thomas Sumter Academy will host Marlboro Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Generals will need to watch out since the Dragons have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. King's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
