Football Recap: West Lafayette Red Devils vs. Northwestern Tigers
West Lafayette had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed by the Northwestern Tigers to the tune of 42-14 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won six matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Dawson Martin was his usual excellent self, rushing for 299 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Benny Speaker was another key player, rushing for 61 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
West Lafayette was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 374 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 154 rushing yards in ten consecutive matches.
