Baseball Game Preview: John F. Kennedy Rockets vs. Gonzales Apaches

For the second straight game, John F. Kennedy will face off against Gonzales. The Rockets will host the Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (John F. Kennedy has three straight wins, Gonzales has eight straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, John F. Kennedy needed a bit of extra time to put away Gonzales. They walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Apaches.

BAYRON CRUZ was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because John F. Kennedy is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise. CRUZ was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MAX GARZA, who went 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. JORGE PINA was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

John F. Kennedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Gonzales' defeat dropped their record down to 0-18-1. As for John F. Kennedy, their win bumped their record up to 9-10.
