Football Recap: Picayune Piles Up the Points Against Hancock

Picayune had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 31-point drubbing they dealt Hancock on Friday. The Maroon Tide took their game with ease, bagging a 59-28 victory over the Hawks. That looming 59-28 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Maroon Tide yet this season.

Colt Robertson looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 105 yards and a pair of TDs on only six passes.

Picayune was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 505 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 227 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Despite the loss, Hancock still got an impressive performance from Kaison Koenenn, who threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 92 yards and one score. 98 of Koenenn's passing yards were hauled in by Bryson Thompson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Picayune's record now sits at 6-1. As for Hancock, their record is now 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Picayune will challenge Long Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Maroon Tide will be up against the Bearcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Hancock, they will square off against Gautier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
