Softball Game Preview: Carroll Tigers vs. Nixon Mustangs

For the second straight game, Carroll will face off against Nixon. The Tigers will face off against the Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Carroll's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Nixon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Carroll heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They took an 11-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nixon. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this matchup were averaging 2.25 runs allowed.

Mariah Pena was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaeleigh Mendez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

The victory (which was Nixon's third in a row) raised their record to 18-11-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Carroll, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-4.
