Bloomington North is 2-8 against Columbus North since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Bull Dogs at 6:00 p.m. Bloomington North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Bloomington North lost 13-7 to Martinsville on Friday.
Grayson Gill and Jocelyn Parrish stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gill got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and one double, while Parrish went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was Parrish's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keylee Taylor, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Columbus North had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Olympians as they made off with a 12-4 win.
Bailee Scruggs was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Columbus North let Lily Retz and Payton Morris run wild. Retz went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Morris went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Summer Williams, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Columbus North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Bloomington North's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Columbus North, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Bloomington North couldn't quite finish off Columbus North in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
