Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Wapahani's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

A well-balanced attack led Wapahani over Eastbrook in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. The Wapahani Raiders strolled past the Eastbrook Panthers with points to spare, taking the game 52-36. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Panthers are ranked 293rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wapahani's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emily Luce, who went 8 for 15 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight assists and five steals. Luce is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 25 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Carpenter, who posted 11 points.

Luce wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Wapahani was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastbrook only posted six assists.

When it comes to explaining why Eastbrook lost, don't look at Mia Bustos. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Wapahani is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Eastbrook, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10.

Wapahani didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-33 win against New Castle on the 9th. As for Eastbrook, they will challenge Wabash at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th. Wabash will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Eastbrook surely won't give up without a fight.
