Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Victories for Grant

Grant had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 14-10 victory over the Newaygo Lions. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Lions last Monday, they had to take a 8-6 defeat.

Reese Gragg was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kaylin Hawes was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Grant's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.4 runs over those games. As for Newaygo, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Grant beat the Lions by a score of 17-8 later that day.
