The Roanoke Catholic Celtics will take on the Virginia Episcopal School Bishops at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Roanoke Catholic is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Roanoke Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Hargrave Military Academy and fell 10-9.
William Poff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Peck, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Virginia Episcopal School hadn't done well against The Covenant recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bishops skirted past the Eagles 5-4. The win continues a trend for the Bishops in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Campbell Howard made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Virginia Episcopal School is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 2-3 otherwise. Howard was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Caden Godsie and Jack Mitchell did most of the damage at the plate: Godsie scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Mitchell scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Lawrence Dempsey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Roanoke Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Virginia Episcopal School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
