Softball Recap: Camp Verde Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Camp Verde's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Chino Valley Cougars get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Cowboys, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Aislynn Mulcaire's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Camp Verde let Mariah Munoz and Clancy Murdock run wild. Munoz scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2, while Murdock scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, Murdock is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Haygen Armstrong also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Camp Verde's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. As for Chino Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Camp Verde will host Madison Highland Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Chino Valley, they will welcome River Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. River Valley will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Chino Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
