Basketball Recap: Minico Comes Up Short

Minico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 71-48 to the Burley Bobcats. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Leading Burley to victory were Adalynn Olmos and Audrey Castaneda. Olmos went 7 for 14 on her way to 20 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Castaneda went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. Olmos is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ruby Taylor, who went 6 of 9 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Minico's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Burley, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.

Minico has already played their next matchup, a 73-18 defeat against Pocatello on the 16th. As for Burley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-43 loss against Mountain Home on the 16th.
