Volleyball Recap: La Crosse Logan Comes Up Short at Home Against Sparta

La Crosse Logan unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Sparta Spartans on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

La Crosse Logan was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-23, 25-14.

Their offense was headlined by Kaia Depaolo and Lillian Dettwiler, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Alysha Hayes and her 16 assists. Norah Keller controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Sparta to victory were Addison Kent and Amani Konye. Kent had 17 digs and three aces, while Konye had 11 digs. That's the most digs Kent has posted over her last nine contests.

The win made it two in a row for Sparta and bumps their season record up to 5-4.

Coincidentally, La Crosse Logan and Sparta will both be playing Aquinas the next time they take the court. The Rangers will head out to face the Blugolds at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
