Basketball Recap: Hunter Roark's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Stargate School over the Academy

Stargate School came up into this matchup off a tough 40-point defeat last Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of The Academy Wildcats by a score of 63-61 on Thursday. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hunter Roark, who posted 19 points. Roark's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Rusch, who earned 14 points.

The Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominik Konarski, who went 9-for-15 on his way to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Trey Boychuk, who went 7-for-16 en route to 19 points and eight boards.

Stargate School dropped their record down to 9-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for The Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Stargate School has already played their next contest, an 82-79 win against Bishop Machebeuf on the 15th. As for The Academy, they will challenge Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Academy is facing Arrupe Jesuit at the right time seeing as Arrupe Jesuit is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
