Basketball Recap: Wagener-Salley Comes Up Short

Wagener-Salley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans, falling 47-22. The War Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Ridge Spring-Monetta found their leader in freshman Ny'Asia Young, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards. Young also set a new season-high mark in steals with eight. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Ligons, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Wagener-Salley's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-6.

Wagener-Salley will venture away from home to take on Horse Creek Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wagener-Salley is facing Horse Creek Academy at the right time seeing as Horse Creek Academy is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Ridge Spring-Monetta, they and Batesburg-Leesville will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
