Basketball Game Preview: Nixon-Smiley Mustangs vs. Randolph Ro-Hawks

Nixon-Smiley hasn't had much luck against Randolph recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Nixon-Smiley Mustangs will head out to challenge the Randolph Ro-Hawks at 6:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Nixon-Smiley ended up a good deal behind Somerset and lost 53-38.

Despite the defeat, Nixon-Smiley had strong showings from Janaelyn White, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals, and Alize Davila, who posted 14 points and three steals. White continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janice White, who had six points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Randolph took a blow against Davenport on Tuesday, falling 52-24. While losing is never fun, the Ro-Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 794th, while the Wolves are ranked 166th).

Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Nixon-Smiley, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Nixon-Smiley suffered a grim 52-29 defeat to Randolph in their previous matchup back in January. Can Nixon-Smiley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
