Softball Game Preview: Robbinsville Black Knights vs. Swain County Maroon Devils

Robbinsville is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Swain County is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Black Knights will host the Maroon Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Robbinsville came out on top against Hayesville on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Black Knights were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Yellowjackets.

15 must be Swain County's lucky number: they beat Cherokee with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Maroon Devils beat the Braves by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 15-1.

Faith Woodard was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Hadley Shuler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Robbinsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Swain County, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.

Everything went Robbinsville's way against Swain County in their previous matchup on April 8th, as Robbinsville made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Black Knights repeat their success, or do the Maroon Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
