Basketball Recap: Columbus Takes a Loss

Columbus lost against Spencer back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Columbus Blue Devils fell 55-48 to the Spencer Greenwave. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 339th, while the Greenwave are ranked 136th).

Kerry Griffin was his usual excellent self, putting up 23 points and three steals for Spencer. With that strong performance, Griffin is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Jordan Hudson was another key player, scoring seven points.

Columbus has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season. As for Spencer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus will venture away from home to challenge Sumter County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Spencer, they will face off against Jordan at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Spencer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.
