Softball Game Preview: La Pine Hawks vs. Lakeview Honkers

The La Pine Hawks will take on the Lakeview Honkers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. La Pine has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 17.

La Pine lost 18-9 to Mazama on Friday.

Sierra Parks made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nevaeh Martinez, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lakeview). Everything went their way against Chiloquin on Friday as they made off with a 22-7 win. The Honkers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Addie Holderman was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica Shullanberger, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win got Lakeview back to even at 2-2. As for La Pine, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

La Pine might still be hurting after the 15-6 defeat they got from Lakeview in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
