Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Madison's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Madison barely beat Ida the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Trojans put the hurt on the Bluestreaks with a sharp 11-2 victory on Thursday. Considering the Trojans have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cameron Barber was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Norman Frederick, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Brian Dopp, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Madison has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Ida, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Madison is set to challenge their familiar foe Blissfield at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ida will square off against rival Dundee at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
