The result came thanks to Keaton Nordick's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Nash Bennett was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He also put up a home run, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Drew Smith, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Riverton got the win against Layton on Monday by a conclusive 12-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Silverwolves.
Riverton let Bryce Mounteer and Gaige Woods run wild. Mounteer scored a run and stole two bases while going 4-for-5, while Woods scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Mounteer has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. McKade Ortiz was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Riverton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Layton only managed eight hits.
Riverton's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Pleasant Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pleasant Grove has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .474. However, it's not like Riverton struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
