Baseball Recap: Coral Shores Finds Playoff Glory Versus Mater Bay Academy

Coral Shores had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Mater Bay Academy Rays on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Rays: they've now won four in a row.

Riley OBerry made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Coral Shores got a massive performance out of AJ Putetti, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that Putetti hit this season. Another player making a difference was Maykol Bonito, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Coral Shores' win bumped their record up to 18-3-1. As for Mater Bay Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Coming up, Coral Shores will challenge Keys Gate at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mater Bay Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
