Baseball Recap: Stanwood Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Stanwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Monroe Bearcats on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Spartans: when they faced off against the Bearcats on Wednesday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Tanner Requa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brayden Wammack was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Luke Brennan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Stanwood's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Monroe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Stanwood nor Monroe have any future games scheduled.
