Preview: New Fairfield Rebels vs. Stamford Black Knights
New Fairfield has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Stamford Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, New Fairfield blew past Hartford Public, posting a 79-45 victory on the road.
Meanwhile, Stamford made easy work of Weston on Wednesday and carried off a 75-53 victory. Given Stamford's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Weston is ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stamford's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ejai Presley , who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Damar Taylor , who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
New Fairfield's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Stamford, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
