Guilford had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Rockford Auburn Knights with a sharp 12-2 win. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Maddux Lee made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). Lee was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Riley Kegley was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Guilford's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Khaliel White was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Guilford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Guilford's record now sits at 5-2. As for Rockford Auburn, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the defeat, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Guilford will square off against Rochelle at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rockford Auburn, they will venture away from home to take on Rockford East at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
