Football Recap: Henley Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Henley extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 5-2. They strolled past the Marshfield Pirates with points to spare, taking the game 21-6. The Hornets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates, too.

Joseph Janney had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 125 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, while also throwing for 106 yards on eight of 12 attempts. His longest rush was for an impressive 52 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Henley also got help from Kai Montag, who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Henley proved: they limited Marshfield to a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Trapper Cundall for the heroic effort on defense: he. Henley didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Marshfield fell to 7-1. They were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than 31 points in the seven matchups prior), but Henley's defense proved too tough.

Despite the loss, Marshfield still got an impressive performance from Hadyn Widdicombe, who picked up 119 receiving yards, and also punched in one TD on the ground.

Henley and Marshfield should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Oregon Rankings. The Hornets (ranked 31st) will meet Mazama (ranked 118th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Marshfield will take on North Bend at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (34 vs. 94).
