Softball Game Preview: Bolingbrook Raiders vs. Joliet Central Steelmen

Bolingbrook is a perfect 4-0 against Joliet Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Raiders will challenge the Steelmen at 4:30 p.m. Bolingbrook will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with 12 losses in a row, Bolingbrook turned things around against Romeoville on Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Spartans.

Mackenzie McGrath was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Karina Choi was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Anaiyah Gregory was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Bolingbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Joliet Central fell victim to Minooka and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 22-0 to the Indians. The Steelmen have struggled against the Indians recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Joliet Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Bolingbrook, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-16.

Bolingbrook took their victory against Joliet Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2018 by a conclusive 16-3 score. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Steelmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
