Baseball Game Preview: Lewisburg Patriots vs. DeSoto Central Jaguars

For the second straight game, Lewisburg will face off against DeSoto Central. The Patriots will face off against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lewisburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

Lewisburg lost a heartbreaker the last time they played DeSoto Central, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's contest. The Patriots blew past the Jaguars 10-2 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Patriots needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Talon Haley made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caden Nelson, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Lewisburg has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for DeSoto Central, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-9 record.
