Baseball Recap: Palo Alto Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

After losing to Burlingame the last time they met, Palo Alto decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Vikings came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 6-1 on Saturday.

Nate Robinson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Coco Vonderhaar was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Palo Alto's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 4-2 (and 8-11 when he doesn't). Isaiah Walker was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Palo Alto hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Palo Alto is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Burlingame, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palo Alto will face off against Mountain View at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Burlingame, they will challenge Capuchino at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
