The Huss Huskies and the Statesville Greyhounds will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Huss knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 games -- so hopefully Statesville likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Huss lost to Ashbrook on the road by a 69-55 margin. The Huskies haven't had much luck with the Greenwave recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Zamarius 'Z-Man' Gladden, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Zaiyir 'Zii' Phillips, who posted 14 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Huss smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Statesville suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2024 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 76-49 loss at the hands of North Lincoln. The Greyhounds were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-13.
Despite the defeat, Statesville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Paul Cauthen almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ameiyon Jehahj Sherrill, who earned six points and nine rebounds.
Huss' loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Statesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Huss has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 31.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Statesville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.2 rebounds.
