Baseball Recap: Calallen's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak on the Road

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Calallen and Reagan, and Reagan kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats fell just short of the Rattlers by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rattlers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Calallen saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drayton Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another was Jaydon Cruz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Calallen's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 26-2. As for Reagan, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7-2 record this season.

Calallen and Reagan should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Wildcats (ranked sixth) will meet Valley View (ranked 1223rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Reagan will challenge Warren at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (69 vs. 335). The Rattlers are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Warriors a nine-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
