Recap: St. Monica Mariners vs. Sweetwater Red Devils
The St. Monica Mariners and the Sweetwater Red Devils squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the St. Monica Mariners had to settle for second. They suffered a rough 47-27 defeat at the hands of the Red Devils. St. Monica's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Sweetwater got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Xzavier Crews out in front who rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Another player making a difference was Izell Wright, who rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry.
St. Monica's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Sweetwater, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
St. Monica does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sweetwater will take on Colusa at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Colusa is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
