Softball Recap: Henderson County Makes It 21 in a Row at Home

Henderson County waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Owensboro Catholic Aces. The Colonels have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Aces, too.

Ayden Bennett and Maggie Grogan did most of the damage at the plate: Bennett went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Grogan went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ann Michael Utley also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Henderson County's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 29-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Owensboro Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Henderson County will venture away from home to face off against McCracken County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Owensboro Catholic, they will head out to square off against Franklin-Simpson at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
