Baseball Recap: Horizon Triumphs

It was close, but on Monday the Horizon Huskies sidestepped the Arizona College Prep Knights for a 3-1 victory. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly two runs.

Horizon got a great performance from Rio Ryu as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Ryu has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Horizon's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Trahan, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Horizon and bumps their season record up to 12-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Arizona College Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.

Horizon will have a chance to go back-to-back against Arizona College Prep: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
