Sloan McCreary was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
McCreary wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Schramski, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Spooner came out on top against Chetek-Weyerhaeuser on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run sixth inning. The Rails blew past the Bulldogs 12-2. The Rails might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Like Cumberland, Spooner also got a great game from a two-way player: Evan Potaczek. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Potaczek was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Spooner got a big performance out of Nic Lindgren, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that Lindgren has hit this season. Mason Sobralski was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Spooner's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Cumberland, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Cumberland was able to grind out a solid win over Spooner in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Beavers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
