After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clover Garden School, Cornerstone Charter was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the River Mill Jaguars 14-6. Considering the Cardinals have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubree Reaves made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Reaves was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Cornerstone Charter got a massive performance out of Delaney Hollern, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. What's more, Hollern posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Evelyn Croatt also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Cornerstone Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-7. As for River Mill, they moved to 7-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Cornerstone Charter will head out to take on North Stokes at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for River Mill, they will square off against Clover Garden School at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
